Organization of actors - Photos.

Above are some more images I have taken. My first set of original photography consisted of images of my two characters in some and in others images of woodland. After taking my first images, I was quite happy with the outcome but felt I should try taking some images of my third character, the crazy woman. I asked my sister to be the model for the images and used make up to make her look crazy and as if she had been dragged through mud. I used a dressing gown we had to look like a hospital gown/ restraint to indicate where she had escaped from. I back combed her hair also to add to the look and in some of the images, I added in plastic leaves in her hair also.

Drafting and Planning - Poster Draft - Different Fonts

Above are three screenshots taken off paint.net of some of the development of my possible poster idea. This image was one of the ones that stood out to me out of all the ones I had previously taken. So using this image, I put it into paint.net and added a effect and played around with the saturation and contrast to get the effect shown above. The reason I thought this effect worked well was because I felt it added shade and darkened the shadows making it appear scarier and as it someone is hiding within the forest. I then added text to my poster, and in doing this I tried out some different fonts in order to see which works more successfully. In the first screenshot, the font is simple. I felt using this could be a good idea in a way of making the image the vocal point. The second and third screenshot fonts are a bit more quirkier as they are 'messy'. I preferred the third font to the second, I felt it looked creepy and related to the horror genre more. I also tried including different aspect in each such as a critic comment in the first, production credits at the bottom in the second and celebrity names in the third. When I presented these three options to my class, they all commented that the simple text was more effective and that the other font types didn't look as good as they didn't look very professional. Taking these comments on board, I will go back to my design with the simple font and develop it further.

Drafting and Planning - Poster first Draft comparison.

Above is a poster for the film, The Blair Witch Project. The film is about a group of young adults who go into this forest where a supposed witch lives, so they go to find her. As the film goes on, its reveals the witch is real as one by one the characters go missing. When I first saw this poster, I thought that it was pretty simple and thought maybe too simple. But the more I looked at it, the more I thought how sinister it looked. I think the edit makes the image really sinister with the shadows in between the trees signifying that perhaps they wont find their way out or that something or someone could be watching them without them knowing. I had already collected the photos that I wanted to use for my poster and felt that the image shown below could work well in creating a similar product. So using Paint.net, I changed the, brightness, saturation and added a few effects which created many dark shadows within the image. I thought that by doing this, It would portray the similar idea that something or someone was hiding in the woods. I kept the text simple so that the image was the main focus point. I like this poster idea but will try a few others with different photos I have taken to get a better idea.

Drafting and Planning - Poster Draft using Paint.net

Above is the image I used and put into Paint.net. In Paint.net, I was able to edit and adjust the image and as shown below, I put three different affects. The first shows a simple black and white edit. The second shows a simple sepia edit and the last shows a black noir edit. Out of the three, I think the one which works most effectively is the image with the black noir edit. I feel that it adds shadow and a sense of darkness to the image and think that I will take this image further and possibly use it in my ancillary products to support my teaser.
