Final Poster

Above is my final poster advertisement for my teaser trailer. The part of the poster I was most pleased with was the image and the effect I added. Before the image was dull and it was just natural daylight, after I added the effect, the darkness and the shadows beneath the branches became more apparent making the image look more sinister. The effect is also negative which gave the white parts of the image blue-ish, again making it look scarier. I think with the shadows creates the viewer to think what could be lurking under them. I then placed another image on top of the image of the trees. The image I choose to use was one I had previously taken which was when I made my sister up to be the crazy woman. I felt that putting this image on top related my poster to the horror genre more and made it more obvious that it was a horror film that I was trying to advertise. I decided then that because I wanted the viewer to concentrate on the image, I felt that keeping the title and tagline in a simple, bold font made them more effective and stand out but not take away from the image, I also made some of the text a dark red to relate to the connotations of the colour red being; blood, danger etc. If I was to re-do my poster, I would maybe try adding in celebrity names.

Final Magazine

Above is my final magazine front cover advertising my teaser trailer. After I had completed my draft, I found several errors which I fixed in the above final. I also added extra details in making it more genuine.The trailer was the main, exclusive piece in this edition of the magazine. I decided to go with 'Empire' in the end because I felt, as it is a mainstream film company, I felt it would be better suited to my teaser trailer and the audience I was trying to target. I was going for a mass audience which suited 'Empire' magazine. If I was targeting a niche audience I would go for a smaller, less known film company such as 'Anna-Purna'. As I used 'Empire', I looked closely at previous designs on previous editions of the magazine. I followed several of Empires classic characteristics such as; the empire website address under the masthead, the date and price of the magazine above the 'M' etc. Another thing I noticed whilst looking at previous editions of Empire magazine was the use of colour. So when I was creating my own, I felt it was crucial to include some which is why I featured colours such as red and blue. The shocking colours stood out and would work well when the magazine was sitting in a shop at attracting the attention of readers. Another thing I included also was the plus sign before some text which is regularly on Empire magazines. If I was to re-do my magazine, I would think about what other puffs and pugs I could have included to make my magazine more sellable and interesting to my target audience. 

Final Magazine Draft.

Above is the draft of my magazine advertising my teaser trailer. After looking at previous editions of Empire magazine, I noticed that colour was quite important in making it look more genuine which is why I tried adding in blue and red to my own. I think the things that worked well in my draft was the top banner advertising 25 exclusive covers and also the plus the Oscar specials and 25 must see films of 2014. However, things I don't think worked very well was the text advertising my film, I felt that it didn't look professional. This also goes for the text below advertising the exclusive with the celebrities. Now when I go back into edit my magazine, I will look at changing these things and I will also correct the repetitive things such as the word 'exclusive' and also correct any grammatical errors such as the 'must see must see films' which is shown above.

Final Poster Drafts.

Above was a first draft of what a possible poster idea could be. I took an image I had previously taken, and placed it into paint.net. I then added a negative black and white effect which completely changed the image making it completely black with limited white parts to reveal the female figure. The reason I liked this design was because I thought the image was quite powerful and felt it related to the horror genre. On top of the image, I added in two different texts for both the film title and then the 'coming soon'. I quickly picked out two fonts, made them red and then placed them in the centre of the poster. Although I felt the positioning was good and worked well, I thought it looked a bit unprofessional. I don't think this poster would be the best in advertising my teaser which is what led me onto my next development below... 

Above was the next development of my film poster. In comparison to my last attempt, I felt that this one was more crisp and realistic. Again, I took a picture I had previously taken in my local park, put it into paint.net and added a effect featured on the software.I put the saturation of the image right down, played with the brightness to get the effect I wanted shown above. I liked the edit because I felt that it emphasized the shadows beneath the branches making it appear that something or someone could be lurking within the forest. I then took a plain text and added in the title of the film, a 'coming soon' and critic comment in plain white. The reason why I chose to keep it white was to keep it simple as I wanted the viewer to concentrate on the image. Looking at this draft of the poster I think that to develop it further I could possible overlay another image to make it more obvious what genre my film is. Another problem with it, is that there wouldn't be a critic comment for a teaser trailer as no one has saw it yet, so this would also have to be removed in my final poster.

Making of my Teaser Trailer - MoviePlus X6 - Clips

Above shows a screenshot from MoviePlus. Putting my clips into MoviePlus included me saving the clips from the camera  onto my computer and then importing them into MoviePlus. This procedure was pretty basic but at first when I imported them, they didn't fully download onto the software so I had to re-import them but after I did that, they worked and from then I was able to add all my clips and edit and arrange them to how I wanted.

Making of my Teaser Trailer - MoviePlus X6 - Sound

Above shows a screenshot of when I was choosing and adding sound clips into my trailer. Most of the sound originally behind my clips, I removed and replaced with sounds out the file shown above and off the website freesound. Before I added these sounds, the original sound wasn't as effective, as it was the sound of natural sounds; birds, wind etc. By adding the different sounds I felt it made my trailer more effective. However, I also used these sounds but added my own sounds on top of them such as the 911 call I added towards the end of my trailer.
